Some advice on Group Collaboration:
I. Meet with a goal

B) Assign the division of labor (1 paragraph per member)
C) Determine group deadlines
D) Get contact information from your group so you can collaborate

A) Determine the requirements
B) Check the deadlines
C) Decide who will cover what satirical devices

III. Collaborate
A)Use email to send each other drafts
B) Determine a coordinator to put the final document together
C) Decide who will write introduction and conclusion (not the coordinator)
D) Utilize some collaborative sites or software such as YackPack or Google Docs


How to structure your essay:

I. Introduction
  • Make the intro anecdotal and full of images that will grab the audience's attention and make them think. Do not reveal your proposal in this section.
  • Use this to peak interest and allude to the problem.

II. Body Paragraph 1
  • Use research, evidence and statistics to bring attention to the issue at hand.
  • Use persuasive devices and satirical devices to lead up to your proposal. Hook your reader into agreement before you drop the bomb.

III. Body Paragraph 2
  • Use this paragraph to state your proposal.
  • Also include several points that explain your proposal, its advantages, and why everyone should agree with your stand.
  • Evidence and statistics can reinforce this paragraph.

IV. Body Paragraph 3
  • Use this paragraph to refute any objections to your proposal.
  • These rebuttals can be to "made up" objections or real source objections to your proposal.
  • Manipulate real research and evidence to persuade your audience that you are right and those that oppose you are crazy.

V. Conclusion
  • Summarize your points, present your proposal again, and include a call to action for your audience.
